“Honey Heist but better”—Playful Void reviews Foul Play
Idle Cartulary, a.k.a. Nova, of the Playful Void blog reviewed Foul Play as part of her Critique Navidad series.
The verdict?
“Foul Play is quick, simple, goofy fun. I don’t have a lot to say because it’s not a deep game, it’s aiming for hijinks, and succeeds. This is Honey Heist but better and for a new generation. It’s a great way to spend an evening with your friends.”
I'm floating on air, to say the least.
The review wasn't all praise, though. Nova would have liked to see the game be fully card-based, excluding even the trusty d6s the current version asks you to roll.
Well, that's honestly just a great idea. Six to twelve numbered cards would make the game truly portable. It's something we'll definitely consider while continuing our work on the new physical edition.
In other news: Foul Play is available as part of the Fuck Funko Indie Bundle. For just ten bucks you can not only give the middle finger to that fuckup of a company, but also buy twenty-six quality role-playing games and supplements.
If you're considering buying Foul Play, consider spending just seven bucks extra for twenty-five more games. That's a no-brainer, right?
